"The All New? Punch Out!! - The Sandman" hackpart 2/2hack by RatedJpGPeople seem to enjoy my MTPO videos, so I thought I'd share a bit of a gem I stumbled upon through YouTube. This is a showcase of "The All New? Punch Out!! - The Sandman" hack by RatedJpG. The idea apparently was spawned from Team Awesome's submission for the Nintendo Shortcuts contest in 2007, making an older Little Mac receive training from Von Kaiser and come out of retirement to battle (the son of?) Mr. Sandman, represented by King Hippo. IMO, the most incredible entry and well deserving of first place, but it somehow didn't have the backing for a top 10 cut. But, alas, the past is the past. On a side note, their Contra video is entertaining as well and we can expect more from them in the future. This hack is comprised of elements from the original "Mike Tyson's Punch Out!!," Team Awesome's mock trailer, and many characters from "Super Punch Out!!" for the SNES and Nintendo's "Arm Wrestling" for flavor and filler. The videos don't include any mid-round dialogue, character gloat screens, or the ending. I've spoiled enough for you with the videos - now go get the patch. Why do I like it so much? Because it doesn't incorporate any immature nonsense so common in most ROM hacks to which I've been exposed. If it weren't for the existing videos, I probably wouldn't have given it a chance, but I seriously would have missed out. It's just some simple, yet fine-tuned, graphics/text alterations that almost make you feel like you're playing a whole new game, while simultaneously immersed in the original. A lot of game content is left out of my videos, so do yourself a favor if you take the time to play the hack - explore the corner pep-talks between Little Mac and Von Kaiser, in addition to the abrasive, comedic opponent banter.Currently, the only way of obtaining the hack is by getting the patch and hacking the ROM yourself. A simple message to RatedJpG will get the job done. I know this because this is how I got my hands on it.To display the hack, I have used Andrés Delikat's (Adelikat) tool-assisted speedrun (TAS) for the game. I have put up so many videos for "MTPO!!" that I didn't want just another run of me and my collected strategies. Enjoy the inhuman reflexes of the slow-downs, save-states, re-records, and frame-by-frame-advancements that only an emulator could provide. This is not a debate for TAS vs. SPEEDRUN! It's just what I used to show off the ROM.A few more boring notes:1) I cannot provide you with the ROM- Ever! I like my page and don't want it shut down by Nintendo.2) I cannot provide you with the patch.- As I mentioned, the only way (I am aware of) to acquire the patch is through PM and email directly from RatedJpG. It's too awesome for you not to visit his page and see the work first-hand from the source. He gladly provided me with it, and I'm sure he'd do the same for you.3) I won't support your patching the ROM.- It took me eight seconds to figure it out through Google and I'm not sure what the legalities are. But, here are some links for you to guide you on your quest for "The All New? Punchout!!" ROM hack and to the TAS upon which the video is based:http://youtube.com/user/RatedJpG (The person responsible for providing all of us with an incredible remake/interpretation/imagining of one of the most popular games in video game history)http://youtube.com/watch?v=SiBER4iVwCw (The Team Awesome "Punch Out!!" Feb 28, 2010 - super macho frakenstian
KingdomCarts Says:
Feb 12, 2010 - The player is not a player. It's a TAS so I could show off the hack. I just wanted to display the nuances so I could support the author and force other people to get the hack. I thought I gave enough away.

Feb 11, 2010 - This is a nice hack and all, but could the player PLEASE not rip through the fighter info screens before I can read the names?
KingdomCarts Says:
Feb 1, 2010 - When they get up on one, sure.

Feb 1, 2010 - weak as fuck...one uppercut knocks them out? weak as fuck.

Jan 30, 2010 - wha tool are you using for make this hack?
KingdomCarts Says:
Jan 16, 2010 - Funny you should say that. It's exactly like that Japanese guy kicking Mario 3's ass in 11 minutes because both are "Tool-Assisted Speedruns," made with an emulator. These "runs" are used to show what is theoretically possible with the game, but uses frame-advancement and re-records to fix mistakes along the way. None of it is humanly possible.I just used the Punch-out TAS to showcase the ROM. Nobody is this good at MTPO :)

Jan 15, 2010 - How in the hell did you get so damn good at this game? It's like the first time I watched that japanese guy kick Mario 3's ass in 11 minutes.

Jan 12, 2010 - 52 shitty game needs some space, but i cant understand why i get -4 on my last comment here, i said the truth about the nes games' size. But the Master system roms have more conventional sizes like 2Mbits, and a few 4Mbits or above.

Jan 12, 2010 - Oh, okay then. o.o
KingdomCarts Says:
Jan 12, 2010 - True dat - it all came from the arcade Arm Wrestling, which was a spin-off of Punch Out.Pretty sure Bald Bull is the character to appear in the most games, but he wasn't in the second arcade game.I think the list goes:Punch Out (Arcade)Arm Wrestling (Arcade)Super Punch Out (Arcade)MTPO (NES)Punch Out (NES)Super Punch Out (SNES)Punch Out (Wii)Macho and Sandman were in almost as many games as Bull, but neither were in Arm Wrestling. I would count Bull at 5 and Macho and Sandman at 4

Jan 12, 2010 - Didn't make the rom - just showcasing it.Didn't mean to "rip through the game." Also, not my run. What I was hoping to do was get people to get the hack themselves, as noted in the description. RatedJpG would happily provide it to anyone who asks. I honestly didn't want to spoil everything, which is why I chose to make an emulated, save-state run and leave a bit for everyone to discover for themselves.
KingdomCarts Says:
Jan 12, 2010 - Action 52 is a 2Mb rom??? Weird.
KingdomCarts Says:
Jan 12, 2010 - See below - my bad. I'm sorry I was probably just a little frustrated with people's comments on how I displayed the hack, when my only intention was to bring it to light because I liked it. Probably the most frustrating part is that it's not really my run - it's just what I used to display the hack. I just wish people read descriptions every now and again, but I know that's harder with Beta.Anyway, Pokemon really doesn't have anything to do with anything here. I was just a little frustrated.
KingdomCarts Says:
Jan 12, 2010 - Didn't mean the offense. The guy was kind of a jerk and I probably shouldn't have lashed out. What kind of gets me is this isn't even my run. I was just hoping to draw attention to the hack because I liked it and so many people are critical with the way I displayed it. I just wanted the creator to get some attention.Likes and dislikes shouldn't be a part of anything, and sorry.
KingdomCarts Says:
Jan 12, 2010 - Moobs, dude :)
TwinGrimm Says:
Jan 6, 2010 - Just saying, MOST nintendo ROMS are about ¼ a megabyte big if that, there's about 800 games for NES, lets just say 1000 because there is unlicensed games and what not ( Also hacked ones like this game), and it just helps illustrate the stated. Those 1000 games you down loaded would not even take up ½ gig of space on your computer even if you assumed they were all larger in size of games, which they are not.
TwinGrimm Says:
Jan 6, 2010 - Yeah, KingdomCarts will fuck you up, boi.
RoboRandy1 Says:
Jan 1, 2010 - A little racist at the end dont you think? I know Mr Sandman is already racist, but thats laying it on thick
lanethehurricane Says:
Dec 28, 2009 - no, Mask X is from the NES game Arm Wrestling. I'm pretty sure that Masked Muscle was inspired by Mask X.
pariah247 Says:
Dec 25, 2009 - Amen to that. You'd think that after taking so much time to mod the graphics/names, he'd take a few extra seconds to showcase them instead of just ripping through the game. Also, it's "Masked Muscle" from the SNES game. And the masked Bald Bull was pretty uninspired.
CleetusSilversurfer Says:
Dec 6, 2009 - Well Action 52 is a 2Mb rom, and almost all chinese RPG game is 2Mb too,so there are many games larger than 130Kb.The 60% of the nes games are larger than that size.
scyber12 Says:
Dec 1, 2009 - Dark, how does it feel to be burned? On here for at least 2 hours a week you say...and yet, you think we believe a school brat like you? Go back to school and get beat up. Hell if i was back in school I'd do it, but you'd be a waste of my time, boy.
CuteArceus Says:
Nov 29, 2009 - Pokemon is win. How could you say such a thing.
