A show that details many aspects of the video game industry. In episode 018 I show two ways to deal with the Game Gear's common issue with quite sound. Caused by a bad capacitor the speaker will often no longer output decent volume. There's a work around and a permanent fix, this video details both.Watch all my 2-Bit episodes in Order: http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=D4F4FC7E5213A7B8Disclaimer: By performing this repair you risk accidentally damaging your Sega Game Gear. I am not responsible for any damage you may inadvertently cause to your system. I do not guarantee that this repair will fix your console as there may be many causes of audio failure. Soldering electronics is always a risky enterprise; if you dont have much experience doing it have a friend do it for you. Soldering irons are very hot and should be handled with extreme care. By continuing to watch this tutorial, you agree to do this repair at your own risk.1. Towl or Sheet so you dont scratch the Game Gears screen1. Security Screwdriver or a clear plastic pen and a lighter1.Philips Screwdriver1. Pair of Pliers1. 47 μF (Microfarad) capacitor available at radioshackA soldering iron and lead free solder with fluxAlso it would be a good idea to wear rubber gloves so you dont transfer oils onto sensitive parts of the system. Here's a direct link to the replacement capacitor: http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2102512A similar capacitor will work it just needs to be 6.5 volt or higher Less
